Taxi, Melbourne

Fancy food with a view @ Taxi in Melbourne CBD

Taxi is located right by the water in the middle of the CBD, right in Federation Square. The food at Taxi is modern, fresh and beautifully presented.  The decore is casual, clean and the customer service was quite attentive.  The meals are intended to be share plates but if you are ordering; I'd suggest ordering at least one entree per person and at least one main per person to share. The dishes are beautifully presented but not quite generous enough to share beyond 2 people. I came here with two girlfriends and ordered based on the waitresses' suggestion but wished we ordered more dishes.

To share, I started off with the Cured Kingfish with pickled radish and shaved ginger ice ($16, above). There were also bits of pear which was very refreshing along with the king fish. Quite a nice dish with a modern twist.

The highly recommended entree by the staff was the caramalised pork (Below). It was covered in salad from the top which was very flavoursome. Named the "Candied Pork" at $19.50, below had shaved coconut, coriander, and chili dressing. I quite liked this entree.

We also ordered a side of potato fries ($9.50, above). They were crunchy and not too oily. The Herb Roasted chicken with peas, asparagus and tarragon sauce ($36, below) was very well cooked and presented. It was homely in the tarragon sauce. I'd suggest ordering an additional side to this dish.

The Taxi's classic szechaun diuck with hot vietnamese with mint salad and fresh lime ($39.90, below) was perfectly cooked. The skin was slightly crispy and the flavours contrasted well with the vinegar based Vietnamese salad.

The Passionfruit Suffle $15.50, below was a great way to finish off the meal. It was perfectly prepared and was delicious.

Prices: $80 per person

Location: Level 1, transport hotel, Federation Square.
