La Mono is located among the suburbia of Merrylands. As you enter La Mono, it looks like a take away chicken shop but when you peer further in, there are white table cloth tables and other plastic tables in an outside seating area. There was a plastic rose inside a jar which changed the tune of the local chicken shop.
For an entree, I ordered the cheese sumbuisk ($7.50 for 3 pieces above) which is feta cheese and oregano wrapped in pastry and lightly fried. It was thoroughly cheesy and something naughty to start the meal.
Naturally I had to order some chicken which is what La Mono are known for. I ordered the half chicken with chips ($15, below), all dine in meals come with Lebanese bread, garlic sauce and pickles. I smear the garlic sauce on the Lebanese bread and add chicken and chips for a mini but delightful roll. The pickles and pink radish add a salty taste and replenish the palette after a hit of garlic. The chicken was not as moist and tender as hoped but still tasty. The chicken definitely tasted marinated.
So overall, I enjoyed my experience at La Mono and can understand why it's so popular. I think the food is reasonably priced and easy to share. I'd love to come back to try some of the other dishes. La Mono is a nice casual eatery, nice for a simple family meal or a quick meal.
