Pho Nam Viet is located on the main strip in Eastwood and seems to be a Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant.
For a quick, for value and filling meal, I like going to Pho Nam Viet. It appears to be a Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant but has all the typical Vietnamese dishes that I like. There is complimentary tea which is typical at most Vietnamese restaurants.
The vermicelli with spring rolls (above, $11) is filled with vermicelli noodles, lettuce, radished carrot, mint and peanuts. There are three crunchy large spring rolls which are cut up. There is a fish sauce mixed with sugar, lemon and soy which is poured over this dish. I like this dish because it's quite filling but is not too heavy.
For colder nights, you may prefer to order the Pho Tai ($10.50, below) which is a noodle soup with rare beef which slowly cooks in the soupy broth. You top this noodle dish with thai basil, bean sprouts and lemon juice. The broth is quite flavoursome and hits the spot.
I'd also recommend the vermicelli with beef and lemon grass salad ($11.80, above). The beef is very flavoursome and comes with cooked slices of onion with the regular trimmings of lettuce, mint, cucumber and radished onion.
For a different combination, you may want to go with the meat balls and spring roll vermicelli salad ($12, below). You'll get two large spring rolls cut up with bits of meat ball cut up.
Overall, Pho Nam Viet is a reliable local Vietnamese/Chinese Eatery. I'll be back for more value and tasty dishes.
