When I went to the Sushi Train in Newtown, I was a bit naughty and had the chocolate fondant.
The sushi train in Newtown is located minutes from the station and is quite busy as I visit on a Wednesday night. You normally don't expect high quality sashimi from a sushi train but Sushi Train in Newtown will surprise you. The sashimi is thickly cut and taste really fresh. I ordered the mix sashimi plate for $14 (8 pieces) which had salmon, kingfish and tuna sashimi. If you're a Washoku lover member then you can also get a deal. When you order the salmon sashimi (4 pieces for $7) then you get a bonus two pieces. Just show them your free membership from Washoku Lovers.
Grey plates are $3 including the the corn salad ship full of mayo and corn baby!
The most expensive plates are green and include this Salmon Volcano ($5, below). It's grilled salmon topped with mayo and spicy sauce.
The purple plates are $4.50 and the best plate is the chocolate fondant. LOL, or the chicken kaarage (below).
My favourite sushi of the night is the Aburi Chicken Cheese Roll (below, $4). It's cheesey saucey and the chicken taste homely in this combination. Oh yeah. The cheese is melted and grilled on top. You must order this one.
These two are $5 each as they are on green plates. This includes the salmon with grilled scallop on top (known as the TK). I wanted more scallop so the one on the right below is grilled scallop topped with grilled mayo.
I recommend the grilled pork dumpling - Gyoza for $4. I suggest you order this fresh so it's hot. The skin is thin and slightly crunchy. Love it.
My photographer Matt was a bit fan of the marble beef aburi $4.50 (it was 9 grade) and was saying it was amazing! He also devoured the duck aburi $4.50 as well. Highly recommended.
Head Chef will serve some love (sushi) for you! Keep an eye out for Chef Satoshi! I forced him into this photo. LOL
