Tatsuya, West Ryde

I've been tossing up between my favourite Japanese restaurant in West Ryde.  I head back to Tatsuya though on this particular Friday to get my sashimi fix.  

Tatsuya is a casual eatery in West Ryde with a very small space so there are not many tables inside. Typically it's entirely booked out but if you head there early enough and agree to leave by 7:00 then you can get a table. I'd suggest booking though. 

I'm not particularly hungry tonight so Matt does most of the eating. We have our regular favourites though. Matt orders a Grilled Salmon Sushi Roll ($16.90) which has approximately 9 thickly cut pieces. It has grilled salmon on the top and has grilled salmon, cucumber and avocado on the inside. There's also a sweet mayo drizzled on the top. I quite like this grilled salmon sushi roll, it's delicious although a bit loosely rolled.

One miso soup usually accompanies the  Sashimi/Sushi platters so I share this with Matt. I normally order the regular sashimi platter but on a whim and to try something else, I order the regular sushi and sashimi platter ($20). The Sashimi is great as usual which is cut in quite thick slices. The sushi nigiri is not as enjoyable to eat as I think they're cut in an awkward way where it's thin, thick and harder to eat with the rice. I'll definitely be switching back to my sashimi platter.

I've been going to another local Japanese restaurant called Moeru as well. I've been tossing up between the two restaurants.  I think more recently Moeru has my vote but both are very popular.  I suggest you book for both though as they are both very popular. Moeru has a larger venue and can accommodate more people.
