Four Frogs Creperie, Lane Cove

Happy Bastille day!! Four Frogs Creperie is celebrating with July specials. I head to Lane Cove to experience a bit of French Culture. Lane Cove Four Frogs Creperie is little venue with friendly staff. The locals will appreciate manager Benoit who's really helpful and attractive.

Four Frogs Creperie has a series of specials this month. Who's keen to try the escargot ?

Four Frogs Creperie has a selection of French Ciders which is the traditional drink that usually accompanies galettes and crepes. I firstly try the dry Kerisac Dry Bretagne ($7) which is 4.5% alcohol and has quite a dry and sharp taste. It grows on you and matches savoury galettes quite nicely.

Four Frogs Creperie had a one day special on Bastille day which was their Special truffle galette ($24) which had swiss cheese, egg and prusciutto with shaved truffle on top. Delicious. The savoury galette is made from buckwheat flour which is naturally gluten free.  The savoury galette taste crispy and light in texture. The truffle galette was quite a treat with the runny egg, cheese and truffle flavours that were incredibly aromatic.

I also decide to try Four Frogs Creperie July specials! Starting with the Mushroom Galette ($21) which has a mix of mushrooms (Chanterelle, porcini and button), swiss cheese, bacon lardons, parsley and cream. I smack my lips as I cut into that cheesey mushroom galette. I love mushrooms and really enjoy the flavours. It's quite moreish and homely.

 Four Frogs Creperie also has a Snail Galette ($17) which has slow cooked snails in a garlic and parsley sauce, potatoes, cherry tomatoes, speck and swiss cheese. The snails are very flavoursome and bold with a prominent garlic flavour. The potatoes and speck balance this savoury galette quite nicely. Matt really enjoys the snails. 

To accompany the savoury crepes, you may also want to try the Ecusson Rose Normandle 3% ($7) which is less sharp and a bit more sweet than the first dry cider I tried. The staff at Four Frogs Creperie can help you match a cider to your galette if you like. The sweetness of the cider is refreshing to drink.

Make sure you make room for dessert as there are two specials at Four Frogs Creperie in July. The first is the Paris Brest Crepe ($15) which has home made praline sauce with nut crunch, whipped cream and grilled almonds. Matt and I basically devour this crepe in seconds. This is my favourite of the night as it's very well balanced in sweetness, texture, flavour and I just wanted more.

 Four Frogs Creperie also has the Black Forest Crepe ($16) which has home made cherry curd, home made belgian chocolate sauce, kirch-macerated cherries and whipped cream. This crepe is a bit more rich in chocolately flavour so if you love a chocolate ending then I highly recommend.

 Four Frogs Creperie recommends a sweet cider to match dessert so I tried the Kerisac semi dry bretagne ($7) to drink with the dessert. I was so in heaven with the dessert specials for July, the cider just added a refreshing match that was nice.

 Four Frogs Creperie also has mulled cider ($10) which was so tasty. Matt's favourite cider of the night was this mulled cider as it was warm, full of orange and cinnamon flavours and was incredibly tasty. I will to concur on that one.

Summary: Head down to Four Frogs Creperie and check out the July specials. Make sure you ask the staff about the best matching ciders with your galettes. You can't go wrong the escargot! My favourite of the night was that Paris Brest Crepe but I enjoyed all of them to be honest.
