The Calyx is a little oasis in the middle of Centennial Park. I love the escape it brings from the city. There's an exhibition at the moment called "Plants that Bite" with an array of carnivorous plants. They are beautiful and quite delicate in their own way. Matt and I are also invited to a special event held at the Calyx as part of the Tomato Festival on 17th February 2019.
I've actually been to this exhibition twice already but three time is a charm and I still enjoy the beauty of the plants. As part of the special Tomato Festival event, we are treated to some wine and some tacos. The wine was really enjoyable while we strolled around looking at the plants and there was live music which provided for really nice atmosphere
The tacos were a bit lack lustre and came available in tuna, cold crumbed fish and vegetarian but they are sufficient for a quick bite to eat.
I'm also treated to some snack crickets which tasted mostly crunchy and something a bit different to enjoy. There's also a movie at this event called Return of the Killer Tomatoes aka a retro movie experience.
It was a good evening out doing something different and I always like the Calyx!
Weekend Food Escapes dined as guests of the venue or their representatives. All photos, opinions and words are my own.
