Matt and I are not locals to Peakhurst but we decide to check out new venue, Cheat Day. The premise of Cheat Day is that it's set up with a gym themed restaurant with menu items named after famous body builders.
Cheat Day is a small little venue and many people walk by ordering take away coffee (the little marionette coffee) and there's also inside seating. People order food at the counter and you are given a dumbbell as a table number. I think it's cute!
Cheat Day has mostly burgers on their menu and there's also a series of shakes including protein shakes. On this occasion, Matt tries the Maple Thickshake, although there's cakeshakes, frappes, soft drinks and other options as well.
Cheat Day has a few options and I decide to choose the Cheat Day Platter which gives you the choice of Beef, Cheese or Fried Chicken Burger (I choose the cheese burger), fried chicken wings, seasoned fries, thick shake or soft drink and your choice of cheesecake pavlova or soft serve for $35.
The Cheese Burger has cheese, house pickles and burger sauce and is nice to eat. I think the meat pattie could do with a bit more seasoning but aside from that it is an enjoyable burger to eat. There's three small chicken pieces which has a crunchy coating.
Matt orders The Rock ($14.90) which has smoked beef brisket burger with oak lettuce, house bbq sauce and house pickles. The Rock Brisket Burger is quite fatty and rich in flavour as you would expect with brisket. I personally prefer a traditional beef or chicken burger but Matt likes brisket.
To get dessert, you need to go to the bell and ring it loudly! Then you can let the kitchen know if you want the Pavlova or the soft serve. Matt and I walk up to the bell and I attempt to ring the bell but hitting the side with a small looking hammer. Matt says i'm doing it wrong so I have another attempt.
I make enough noise and Matt shouts out "pavlova thanks mate". He says that it was a solid dessert and enjoyed the meringue with the berry compote and crumble at the bottom. The dessert also looks so pretty.
The burger game is strong in Sydney so I'm not sure if Cheat Day would be at the top of my list but it's definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.
