Teta's Lebanese Restaurant, Roseville

Teta's Lebanese Restaurant is located in Roseville and specialises in Lebanese cuisine.

My work colleague tells me Teta's means "Grandma's" and naturally you associate homely cooked meals with Grandmas.

I am looking forward to middle eastern flavours at Teta's Lebanese Restaurant in Roseville. I head upstairs where Teta's caters for bigger groups. The decore is relaxing and the staff are friendly.

I start off with a few cocktails. The Beirut Cooler (left) is described as a refreshing summer drink of fresh watermelon, vanilla and regular vodka with ginger beer. It's sure to be a favourite for watermelon lovers.

I quite enjoy their blueberry cocktail with fruit pieces of raspberries and blueberries with such a bright colour.

A group favourite is the mixed dips platter ($18) which consists of hommus (chickpea), babaghanouj (eggplant), labne (thick yoghurt) and fried bread. I spread some of the babaghanouj which is smokey and light onto the lebanese bread. It's hard not to resist so I end up eating a lot of this mezze. The fried bread provides a bit of crunch and texture with the creamy hommus, It's a winning combination.

For a bit of zing and another Lebanese favourite, I have the tabbouleh ($15, below). Served with cos lettuce leaves, the salad is made of chopped parsley with bulghur, tomato, onion and is dressed in lemon juice and olive oil.

For the more adventurous, check out the Kibbeh Nayye ($19, above) which is a lamb tartare which is finely blended with crushed wheat, onion and house spices. It's served on a platter of mint, olive oil, onion, tomato and chilli. The falafel ($12, below) is crunch on the outside and full of chickpea flavours and soft textures on the inside.

The Kataifi prawns ($20) make for a nice addition to mezze entrees. Its served with harrisa mayo, chilli and parsley. The crunchy kataifi coat provides a bit of crunch.

The lemon garlic chicken is charcoal cooked. The breast fillets are tossed in a garlic and lemon sauce ($20 entree size below). This is one of the highlights of the meal as the chicken is so moist and tender. The lemon and garlic are delicate flavours.

Teta's also has a range of skewers which will please and delight the meat eaters. Photos galore come out when the skewers come out. I try the lamb skewers which are well marinated and slightly spicy. The chicken skewers are nice but the winners of all the skewers are the ugly looking koftas but they are amazingly delicious. The koftas are a definite recommend.

Accompanying the skewers is a light fluffy garlic sauce. It's almost like they have whisked egg whites with garlic and a light cream. I love it.

For dessert, I am treated to an amazing rose water lebanese bread pudding which has a nutella and clotted cheese topping. It's served with a side of ice cream and is topped with pistachios. M is amazingly in awe and speaks in a loud excited voice.

What a banquet of food! Amazing! My favourites were the lemon and garlic chicken, kofta and the dips that I can't get enough of. Perhaps you should order less as I think I ate too much.

Overall, I had a lovely time at Teta's Lebanese in Roseville. For those on the North Side, you'll have to travel a far distance for this sort of authentic flavours of Lebanese cuisine. I think it's a great venue for large groups.

Check it out.
