Chef O-San is famous in Japan. He brings his ramen delights to Sydney via Ramen O-San.
Ramen O-San is located in the Dixon House food court in Chinatown. With stiff competition; Chef O-San brings a selection of ramen noodle soup to Sydney. The Dixon House Food court is perfect for a cheap and cheerful meal. The very popular ramen dish which is sure to make you very full is the sumo ramen. The Sumo Ramen is $12.80 and is a Pork and chicken double soup with two pieces of Pork Kakuni (pork belly). The broth has heavy flavours of pork and lots of garlic accompanied with noodles which are nice and thick. The hungriest person will still be very satisfied and struggle to finish this dish. This ramen dish is topped with bean sprouts. I'd recommend this dish.
I also tried their special "Creamy Tonkatsu" ramen (below, $11.80) which is a very dense, creamy broth and is topped with spring onion, large pork piece, onion and fungi slices. The noodles are also quite thick which is very tasty. This dish is tasty but hard to finish as the broth is very dense. I will have to try some of their lighter broth dishes next time. I quite liked the large slice of pork on top.
To try something different, I also tried the for value dish of cha-siu mayo rice bowl ($6, below). It's a mixture of rice, soy, spring onion and mayonnaise with slices of cha-siu. It's a dish which is lighter for those who are not as hungry. It's also ideal for students who may not have as much money.
Ramen O-San is part of Washoku Lovers and you can get a Chasyu Rice Ball for half price by showing the membership card. It's free to join.
I'd suggest you stop by and check it out!
