Mangiasti, an Italian restaurant is located in Roseville Chase. I head here on a weeknight along with some foodies to check out the food at Mangiasti which is best described as Modern Italian.
Mangiasti is a cosy restaurant with a narrow space at the bottom, there is also a space upstairs with more tables. The decore feels intimate which would be great for a date.
My blog is called weekend food escapes because I love eating delicious food as I genuinely feel like it's a nice escape from the every day life. While it's not the weekend on this occasion, the work day is quickly forgotten as I chat away with my foodie friends, I am sitting next to Sash from Coco and Vine. The meal begins with a tray of roasted nuts and delicious olives. I love the salty flavours of the black and green olives while I chat away.
The entree is the Croquette Di Feta ($21.90) with sesame seeds, honey and green apple. This dish is fabulous! The salty feta croquette is rectangular shaped and is covered in sesame seeds. As I cut into the croquette, I really enjoy the texture of the sesame seeds with the saltiness of the feta. The apple and honey add sweetness to the salty flavours. I love this dish, it's very well balanced. It's a portion for one and not a dish to share.
The signature at Mangiasti is the Linguine Cartoccio ($38.90) with Fresh WA scampi, fresh local mixed seafood baked in a parcel. The linguine soaks in all those seafood flavours and is well seasoned. I enjoy eating the scampi, along with the prawns, cherry tomatoes and clams. The baking method brings out a steaming effect and everything tasted moist and delicious.
I am quite full by this stage but I also try some of the Steamed cod with fresh micro herbs. The cod is simply prepared to retain its natural flavour and sits in a citrus dressing. The cod is topped with greenery and crispy sliced potatoes. This would be a great healthy alternative if you are looking for a healthy option. Fish of the day is $39.90
For dessert, there's the Rocher Semifreddo ($16.90). It's a house made rocher which has delicious chocolate ice cream with a chocolate coating. There's also an additional biscuit on the side. I think the Rocher semifreddo is quite delicious on it's own and would perhaps be enhanced with chocolate shards or a vanilla shards or spongey texture. I don't think the biscuit is necessary so I leave this to the side.
