Sokyo Ramen, Pyrmont

The Zomato rating for Sokyo Ramen is completely harsh and off the mark
Sokyo Ramen is a temporary pop-up located in the Star Casino Food court. Luckily it's extended its tenure so I could try their ramen. I was surprised when I saw the rating of 2.9/5 on zomato but then I realise it's only off 6 votes.

I order the yuzu shio ramen (below, $15) which is described as light and refreshing. The broth is subtle made from chicken and katsuobushi dashi, bamboo shoots, yuzu, greens, egg and pork. The description meets expectations as the ramen broth is light and subtle in flavour. The noodles are thin and I quite like the greens.

I also order the Umami Tonkotsi 2.0 Ramen ($16, below) which has a lot of fat.The broth is made of pork, chicken and seafood dashi, fat (so much fat), umami soy kaeshi, black fungus, egg and bamboo shoots. The broth is full flavoured but is still light. The ramen is satisfying and is tasty.

To round out the meal, I also order the fried chicken ($9, below). It's a little piece of fried chicken heaven with spiced mayo. There were 4ish chunky chicken bits so if you are hungry then don't share!  A definite recommend.

I'm really happy I get to check out this pop up as I am a massive fan of Sokyo.
