The Harvest Buffet is a popular buffet at The Star Casino. I am told to make a reservation before hand which I'm glad I did as it's incredibly popular.
I decide to visit on a Saturday for lunch (12pm-3pm) which costs $69.90 for an adult. It's $39.90 for a child aged 5-12 years old. The lunch on the weekend has a smaller selection of seafood versus the "premium" buffet for dinner.
We are seated at the Harvest Buffet. There is a QR code if you want to order drinks, otherwise there is water or tea/coffee which is complimentary.
I do a quick lap to see where I would like to start. I can see there's a small queue and it's for the seafood. So I start there. There's prawns, oysters, mussels and pipi shells on ice. I grab a few oysters, prawns and mussels to start. As the seafood is quite popular, the seafood is replenished quite often.
The seafood is quite refreshing and I dip my prawns in some tartare sauce with a touch of lemon. I drizzle some spicy vignette from the salad bar on the oysters. They are quite tasty.
There's also cooked mussels, seafood pasta and seafood pizza if you prefer cooked seafood.
There's a sliced meat and salad bar which was less popular but it makes for good variety.
The Harvest Buffet also has a congee stand where you can self service with any toppings you would like to add. I give this a miss on this occasion. There's Chinese BBQ meats if you wanted to make your own meat bao.
I also spot spring rolls, fried rice, fried noodles and even takoyaki. I was impressed that there was takoyaki at the buffet. It's not something I regularly see. I put some noodles, takoyaki on my plate but try not to load up on carbs.
I also notice a carvery section with beef, ham and chicken with sides of potato gratin, salt and pepper calamari and chips. There's also chicken nuggets for the kids and a make it yourself nacho stand.
This is great variety and my company who dine with me agree that the quality is good. I notice a small crowd around the truffle chips which appear to be a popular side. I enjoy a small nacho (corn chips, avocado, salsa, cheesey sauce), salt and pepper calamari and chips. Great!
The nacho sauce Iooks so delicious, I couldn't resist scooping some on top of my nachos. While I resisted the chicken nuggets below, I noticed lots of parents were happy that they were there for the kids.
After the carvery section, there's a small Indian food section with butter chicken, a vegetarian potato curry and lots of papadums that were crunchy and tasty.
Another popular section was the sushi area. There's prawn nigiri, tuna mini rolls, vegetarian rolls and crab rolls. I eat a few prawn nigiri with wasabi and soy sauce. It was sufficient quality. The sushi section sits in the salad area.
Another popular area was the Italian corner which had a 3-4 pizza options, a seafood pasta, a cheese gnocchi and a lasagne. I try some pizza and cheese gnocchi. I was quite happy with the pizza base which was delicious and my company also enjoyed the cheese gnocchi.
Another area which I gave a miss was the bread and pastries. I think this is part of the breakfast buffet which I imagine would be more popular than lunch. The bread looks good though.
However I have to say one of the things I was looking forward to was the dessert area. I have to say this is one of the buffets with the most extensive variety in dessert.
The cakes looked amazing and in particular I was eyeing off this berry cheesecake. The cheesecake was AMAZING. It had a rich and dense cheese filling with a generous biscuit base and sweet berry compote to balance out the dish. I loved it.
Another highlight for my dining company was the dessert. They thought all the dessert was of high quality and better than other buffets. One of the favourite was the mango tarts which were behind the counter and the staff can serve you. The carrot cake and the strawberry sponge cakes were very popular. You can't go wrong really.
There's three chocolate fountains, a soft serve machine, a frozen yoghurt machine and various toppings as well. It's amazing variety.
For those who prefer cheese, there is a cheeseboard. I was tempted but didn't see any quince paste so I decided to give it a miss.
There's also a crepe machine and little dessert cups of chocolate mousse, panna cotta and other desserts. It's great for anyone with a sweet tooth.
There's a tea stand so I have a nice cup of peppermint tea with my dessert. I let all my food digest and engage in some nice conversation with my dining guests. It's been a nice lunch.
Summary: Overall, I think the Harvest Buffet is one of the best in Sydney because of the broad set of variety that caters to everyone. The quality of food is great overall. My favourites were the Italian corner, the cheesecake and also tasting a bit of everything. I recommend ! I suggest reserving a table.
I think you should choose wisely as you can't eat it all.

Great blog! I completely agree—the variety at the Harvest Buffet is impressive, and the Chicken Biryani is a standout. Thanks for the tip about reserving a table!
