I was recently introduced to a cafe called Foodarama which is located in Newtown. Foodarama have recently renovated and are under new management, I was introduced to this cafe by the Australian Good Food Guide.
As I walk into Foodarama, I notice the bright blue walls and little framed pictures. It's reasonably busy as I enter at 11am.
From the lunch menu, I am tempted by the Steak Submarine ($16.50) which has a juicy steak pieces on a bed of lettuce, fried capsicum, mushrooms, caramelised onion, lettuce and melted mozzarella. I really enjoy this dish as the bread is crusty, the steak is full of flavour and the chips are crunchy. The caramelised onions are soft, slightly sweet and complement the flavours of the steak. Matt also concurs and says he enjoys this dish.
Out of curiousity, I also order the Vegan Breakfast Board ($18.50) which has imitation rashes of bacon, 2 imitation poached eggs, mexican styled beans, imitation sausages. grilled tomatoes, mushroom and toast. Matt is very anti-fake meat and reluctant to try this dish however I end up convincing him to try some imitation sausage. He prefers real meat but I remind him that this would be a great option for the vegetarian or vegan population. It's good to have alternate options.
