Angelo's in Cabarita has veiling a new menu in October - Modern Australian with a fusion of flavours. I was lucky to get a preview of this recently.
Angelo's in Cabarita has an amazing waterview. There's something really calming about a waterview. As the weather is warmer, there's an option to enjoy some drinks with this amazing view before heading into the restaurant.
There's the signature cocktail, Angelo's which is made of stoic gin, orange curcac, lemon, sugar and rosemary. This cocktail is delicious, it's sweet, flavoursome with a hit of gin with an underlying delicious smokey flavour. I recommend.
The 4 pines pale ale beer is refreshing and goes down a treat.
Angelo's in Cabarita also has a number of non-alcoholic drinks including this virgin sunrise which is fruity and colourful.

So, are you ready to see Angelo's new menu? Let's start off with the Bread of the Day - Freshly baked, served with truffle infused butter. Truffle butter is my favourite and the chunks of salt at the top make for additional flavour and texture. A great start.
New on the menu in entrees are the Scallops with dill lemon butter and almond meal. Who doesn't love butter drenched scallops? The scallops are light and the butter is thick and full of flavour.
To cut through the butter, you could also order the Tomato Burrata with blistered fresh heirloom tomatoes, pesto, burrata, herb oil. This is a fresh dish, perfect for warm spring weather and will refresh the palette so you can enjoy the buttery richness of the scallops.
I am eager to try the Grilled Yamba Prawns XO Sauce, chargrilled, brushed with house made XO sauce because I love the fusion of flavours of XO sauce along with the juxtaposition of Modern Australian flavours. The prawn flesh absorbs the moderately spicy nature of the XO flavours which originates from Hong Kong.
If you ask the staff, they may also fill you in on a secret side dish at Angelo's. It's the chimmi churri cauliflower. My godness, this dish was so tasty and secretly seduces your tastebuds. You would have never guessed that cauliflower could have this effect on my tastebuds. This is a must order dish.
New in their pasta menu is the Pappardelle with blue swimmer crab, baby spinach. I bloodey love pappardelle, there's something really inviting about flat and thick pasta noodles that hold the sauce and flavour well. The blue swimmer crab adds a nice salty flavour which is balanced out with the baby spinach.
Also, there's the Risotto with wild mushroom, Arborio rice, and grated parmesan. This is such a classic flavour combination which your tastebuds will surely enjoy.
New on at Angelo's is also the Miso Salmon with Tassal Strahan Tasmanian, miso marinated salmon, bok choy, yuzu mayonnaise, wasabi peas and roasted sesame dressing. I absolutely love miso flavours and enjoyed the flakey salmon with the miso glaze. It's simply delicious. I also like the bok choy with the crunchy wasabi peas. Fantastic main.
For those who prefer a meatier dish, there's the 8 hour slow cooked beef rib with broccolini, potato douphionoise, home dried roma tomatoes and merlot jus. I'm a sucker for potato douphionoise or potato gratin which has thin layers of potato, cream, butter, garlic and cheese. It's the perfect partner in crime with that melt in your mouth beef rib.
There's always room for dessert. So make sure you order a classic Chocolate fondant with vanilla bean gelato. Gooey oozing chocolate, rich and soft chocolate fondant with the plain vanilla bean gelato. It's a classic combination. I love it.
And of course there's Angelo's Tiramisu with Pistoccus biscuits, mascapone cream, coffee, mirto bianco. It's light, creamy and quite balanced in flavours with coffee and sweetness.
Summary: Overall, I had a wonderful lunch and preview of Angelo's new Modern Australian Menu. The highlights for me were the XO Prawns, Miso Salmon and chummi churri cauliflower. All the dishes were good though so there's definitely a lot of variety and something for everyone.
Make sure you soak in the waterviews and make the most of the delicious cocktails.
