Endeavour Tap Rooms, The Rocks


Saturday vibes are on at the rocks with music, food, drinks and atmosphere. Matt and I head to Endeavour Brew Bar for a piece of the good vibes. There's a small brewery inside the Endeavour tap rooms and I check out what beers they have.

Matt and I are sitting outside and we can hear the live music. The sunshine is out and I'm smacking my lips for a beer. The staff explain that there are 8 beers on tap and we could pick 4 to create a beer paddle. They range from lightest to full flavour/bodied. 


I decide on the beer paddle ($15) which allows for a lot of choice and variety. I look at the beer menu and choose beers on the lighter spectrum.

  • Growers Fresh Summer Ale
  • Growers Pale Ale
  • Growers Golden Ale

It's actually really nice to compare the beers from a flavour stance. My favourite is the Growers Fresh Summer Ale (#3) which is quite pale in colour. It's quite fruity actually with a residual sweetness. The mild bitterness is quite balanced actually.


Matt prefers the Growers Pale Ale (#4) which has more flavour, body and colour. This is the highest selling beer from the Endeavour range and is also quite balanced in bitterness and sweetness.





When you walk inside you can check out all the brewery equipment which has a strong smell of hops and beer. At the back there's smoked meats as well. 




Matt and I order some food to enjoy with our beer. We order the Grilled Malted Sourdough bread with smoked eggplant, pumpkin, mascarpone and toasted pepitas ($12). The sourdough bread is well toasted and is crunchy which is how i like my bread with dips. The pumpkin is smooth and creamy with a bit of crunch from the pepitas. The smoked eggplant is more grainy but is earthy in flavour and enjoyable to eat.

Matt thinks the price point is a bit high for this dish but I remind him that we're in prime real estate and this is where all the tourists are lurking among the locals.


 


We also share the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger ($22) with old bay slaw, jalapeno, cheese and a side of fries.  The chicken is crunchy which is always a good start. The slaw and mayonnaise dominate in flavour though so you get an overwhelming creamy taste in your mouth, even overpowering the taste of the fried chicken. I can't really taste the jalapeno though they are visible so they must be very mild in flavour. Matt suggests that the burger would be more tasty with less creamy mayonnaise and could be replaced with a spicy ranch sauce in a smaller portion.

The chips are perfection. There's nice crunch and flavour. Perfection.





Summary: For good vibes, why not step into Endeavour Tap Rooms. I had a great time Saturday afternoon with some beers in the sunshine. The beers are tasty so why not test them out in a beer paddle.
