Urban Tadka, Terrey Hills

Urban Tadka is well known in the foodie groups. It's Indian Fine Dining at its finest. I had the pleasure of visiting Urban Tadka last year and head back to check out their new menu recently. Mr Weekend Food Escapes loves Indian cuisine. 

Nova Mantra, North Ryde

Nova Mantra Indian Restaurant is located in North Ryde in the little strip of shops on Cox road. Once you walk in, you will see a lot of colour in a very elaborate decore. We are having an early dinner this particular Sunday.

Manjit's Wharf, King St Wharf Sydney

Manjit's Wharf is located on King St Wharf and I would consider the best Indian in Sydney. I know it's a big call but i've always had such great food experiences at Manjit's Wharf. I was eager to go back to see what was new on their autumn menu. They also provide catering for functions including weddings 

Essence of North India, North Ryde

Matt and I have driven past Essence of North India in North Ryde several times and it's been on the list to try. We arrive on a Sunday evening and seated immediately.There's a big dining room of out dated furniture and a few chairs have tears in them. I'm not too phased as if the food is great then it doesn't matter about the furniture. But first I need to try the food.

Manjit's, Balmain

If you've strolled along King St Wharf, you may have noticed the very popular restaurant Manjit's at the Wharf. I discovered that Manjit's had originally opened in Balmain and has been there for over 30 years (since 1984). Wow! The locals must all know about this gem but it was my first time visiting this Balmain venue.

Have you headed out to King St Wharf recently? You can never get enough of that waterside view. Matt and I head to Manjit's @ the Wharf this particularly chilly Winter's Sunday. As we walk in, I notice the lights on the ceiling and there's also a nice view of the water. However as it's a bit cold this night, the venue has closed the blinds to protect the customers from the wind. 

Urban Tadka, Terrey Hills

It's a bright and sunny Sunday afternoon as Matt and I head to Urban Tadka in Terrey Hills. One of my foodie friends has highly recommended this venue so I was looking forward to a lovely lunch. Matt points out the statues outside as we enter into the venue. There's a wedding venue part and there's a normal lunch/dinner area as we enter.

Sherpa Kitchen, Newtown

Sherpa Kitchen is a Nepalese restaurant located on King St in Newtown. It's been in Newtown for some time but the current owner has been there for about 18 months. Matt and I head here for a nice lunch. 

Masala Darbar, Surry Hills

New restaurant Masala Darbar in Surry Hills has been busy and quiet in a mixture that is typical of new restaurants. I go on a Sunday that is incredibly quiet and we are the only ones in a restaurant. I didn't know what to expect but I was happy I was patient as the food was incredibly delicious.

I'm really enjoying the Taste Food Tour so far in Harris Park. I had quite a bit to eat at the first stop and second stop so I am almost full however I will try and pace myself moving forward.

Some of the best Indian food is in Harris Park and Billu's has a stellar reputation for delicious, authentic Indian food. More recently, Spiced By Billus has opened up in Barangaroo. In conjunction with the Australian Good Food Guide, I stopped by for a leisurely lunch on the weekend.

Masala Theory, Surry Hills

Masala Theory is newbie kid on the block in fusion Indian cuisine. I check it out with MW one Wednesday evening after work. 

The Colonial, Darlinghurst

The Colonial is a British-Indian restaurant. I check out their Darlinghurst venue for mid-week dinner. When I hear British-Indian - i'm not sure what that means so I was curious. I get a preview of some of the new menu items.

Lal Qila, Darling Harbour

I must confess i'm not overly familiar with Pakistani or Indian food but was happy to try all the dishes at Lal Qila. Lal Qila has been operating in Surry Hills for the past 8 years and has recently expanded to King St Wharf. I check out their new venue. 

Rang Mahal, Epping

On another quiet night, I decide to order some delivery the from Epping. I hadn't tried Rang Mahal before which specialises in Indian cuisine. 

Cha Chu's, Hawker Lane, Chatswood
