Taste Baguette, Darling Park

Taste Baguette in Darling Park is a popular eatery by local office workers during the week. It serves up delicious coffee, delicious pastries, Vietnamese Salads (if you get lunch early) and drool worthy baguette sandwiches for take away. It also has a pub/bar area where you can sit in for your meals and cocktails if you are thirsty.

On this particular Saturday, I chill out in the bar area with Matt for some lunch. He has a sneaky beer while I relax to a delicious cosmopolitan. I let the atmosphere sink in while I people watch and sip on my cosmo.

I first share a Vietnamese Banh Mi Baguette with the lot. It's served with a fried egg on top with chilli. The Vietnamese Banh Mi is served up on really crusty and delicious bread. It also has vinegarette carrot, cucumber, coriander, pate, vietnamese pork and lettuce. While it's not quite a traditional Vietnamese Pork Roll, it's still very tasty and what really makes the roll is the freshly baked crunchy bread.

I also share this Salmon which is the fish of the day ($28). Matt says to me he really enjoys the salad which has a mix of grain salad on asparagus. I think what brings the salad together is a mix of texture and the light fruity dressing. The fish is perfectly cooked with a crispy skin and light, flakey salmon flesh. I really enjoyed the banh mi with the lot but now I am in love with the salmon. It's my favourite dish of the day.

New to their kitchen, Taste Baguette are also trialling this delicious olive bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread is freshly baked on the premises and is surprisingly addictive. It's the saltiness from the olives along with the cool, smooth olive oil with the small hit of balsamic vinegar to really mix up the flavours on the tongue. I'd definitely vouch for the bread if they bring it to the menu.

Finally, I try the burger which has a wagyu patty with melted tasty cheese, crispy bacon on a brioche bun. It's also topped with a pickle and an onion ring. I also enjoy the thick cut chips and tomato sauce. The burger is decent but it's the salmon, banh mi and olive bread that dominates my food feelings today.

Summary: Stop by for a drink and a meal on the weekend at Taste Baguette. The food is reasonably priced and a great way to enjoy the weekend. I highly recommend the fish of the day and the banh mi.
