Salt Meats Cheese, Drummoyne

Salt Meats Cheese has been expanding across Sydney and I've yet to try out this popular eatery. I head to Drummoyne for some breakfast with MW.
There's a nice stream of people coming in and people coming out with coffees. Luckily, MW and I get a table straight away as we arrive at approx 11am on a Sunday.

I look at the menu and it's full of healthy options with options varying from $8.5 to $16 which is very reasonable.

MW looks at the menu and decides on the must order of the oreo and nutella shake ($8). The Salt Meats Cheese Oreo and Nutella Shake was a touch of naughty at brunch time. It's hard for MW to resist these drinks.

Naturally you can expect strong nutella flavours with blended oreo biscuit pieces.

Now, let's get to the food. I opt for the poached eggs, avocado with smoked rainbow trout ($16). There's also shaved zucchini, sesame seeds and lemon and corn chips.

The eggs are wayyy over cooked and the yolk is a solid which is disappointing. The salmon is tasty but doesn't taste smoked. Aside from these features, the breakfast dish is still enjoyable. It's hard to resist the simple combo of avo, toast, eggs and salmon.

I am envious of MW's choice which is the Green Shakshuka ($16) which is egg with kale, spinach, leek, celery, oregano, peas, almonds, feta, spicy dukkah served in a hot pan with sourdough.

I think this is the dish to order as everything was perfectly cooked in this little hot pan. The vibrant greens, predominantly spinach leaves on top add a fresh and healthy touch to the eggs and crunchy dukkah. Love it.

Summary: A nice casual eatery for breakfast. It was a shame the poached eggs were over cooked but aside from that, the experience was tasty. I will have to come back for their famous pasta/pizza another time.

Price: $20ish per person
