Moutai

I recently celebrate with Moutai with 500 others from business, politics, sport, arts and media at Sydney's Town Hall. It's been 46 years since official relations were established between China and Australia. It was a lovely and decadent affair.

China's national spirit brand, Moutai hosted a dinner and cocktail event which is part of a world wide annual promotion. Moutai is an acquired taste and is an incredibly strong spirit so I was keen to see how they would taste in cocktails. Most people can't handle it the strength of Moutai so I definitely recommend trying a cocktail or a smaller shot lol.

Above is the Passion Fruit Dragon Martini which has passionfruit liquer, passionfruit puree, mango puree, red ruby grapefruit juice, egg white and of course... Moutai! This was quite a strong drink.  There was also the Shanghai Sour with Moutai, amaretto liquer, lavender syrup, fresh lemon juice and egg white. I love the smell of lavender.

The most popular cocktail of the night seemed to be the Crimson Garden which had moutai, de kuyper blackberry, pomegranate juice, fresh lemon juice, sugar syrup and blueberry garnish. This was the most refreshing and fruity. It was delicious.

I love all the colourful boxes that were displayed that night. So congratulations to Moutai and another prosperous year ahead! I had a great time so thank you for the invitation.
