The Dining and Co, Mascot

 

Justin Park, ex-Executive chef at Quay has opened up his fourth cafe - Dining and Co in Mascot / Alexandria. I’ve been to the original venue of Dining and Co in North Ryde so I know i'm in for a good experience.

The Dining and Co in Mascot is spacious with lots of tables to choose from. The staff are super friendly but you can also order on your phone if you prefer. My little one orders a babycino. It’s quite cute.

I notice there’s a Taro Latte on the menu. I love the sweet flavours of taro so I order this with one sugar. Its purple colour is always inviting. You don't often find this at all cafe menus so I'm pretty happy!

By recommendation, I also order the strawberry matcha with milk. The sweetness of the strawberry balances out the bitterness of the matcha and the milk mellows out the palette. It’s a great drink! I recommend.

There's the chorizo and kipfler salad ($21) spicy sausage, crispy kipfler potatoes, poached egg, garlic, chilli, rocket and with parmesan crisps, corn and greens. The potatoes are plentiful and crunchy, while there's smaller shards of chorizo. I like the parmesan crispy shards and the sweetness from the corn.

There's an all day breakfast to choose from. The breakfast board ($26) is inviting with slow cooked eggs or soft eggs (63' eggs), prosciutto, smashed avocado, haloumi, smoked salmon, lemon, dill crème fraiche and rye toast. I really enjoy eating the soft eggs, they are gooey and delightful to eat. I also can't resist the smashed avocado with the saltiness of the haloumi. 

My child orders the kids burger and chips ($14) with tomato sauce. I think it's a good portion for a child. My child is happy and agreeable to lunch! 

On the breakfast menu at the Dining and Co is also the Ricotta Pancakes ($22) which has caramelised banana, popcorn, honey and whipped butter. This dish is playful with a syringe of honey to drizzle over. The pancakes are delicious with the banana and I love eating caramelised popcorn. If you have a sweet tooth, you will enjoy this dish.

At Dining and Co, there's also the Sirloin Steak ($28) which is cooked sous vide. The grass fed sirloin with mushroom sauce, onion flakes, mixed salad and chips is a delight to eat. The mushroom sauce in particular is so moreish. I also liked the evenly and well dressed salad. I ordered my steak for Medium.

Summary: Overall, I had a really nice brunch at The Dining and Co. There is a good selection of dishes to suit everyone's palette. I like that there is an all day breakfast menu, which suits those who like to sleep in on a weekend. Justin Park brings his passion for food into his cafes. Great!
