It's been an incredibly crazy 2026. I've been active sporadically on instagram but I am overdue on the food blog.
I was introduced to Jin's Meat Pie a few years ago in 2023 when they won a blue ribbon by the Country Women's Association in the "baked Item" award. I thought it was rather strange that an eatery in Eastwood (and now Burwood) with chinese roots would win!
It's now one of my regular haunts when I am craving dumplings. As you enter, you can grab some menus, then you go to the cash register to order and grab table number.
Back in 2023, they had fried pork and chive dumplings that were longer in shape, these days in 2026 (photo above), they have crispy laced buttons and more of a stout round shape. They serve up 12 dumplings for $18. The dumplings are always well partnered with chilli, soy and vinegar which is self serve at Jin's Meat Pie.
The famous grilled meat pies are best descripted as a crispy dumpling in my opinion. Usually they aren't as burnt in the photo above but you can choose original or spicy grilled meat pie. You get 5 for $13.50. We always get the spicy ones.
In more recent years, they have also started selling these fried pork buns as well. It's 5 in a portion and they are rather tasty.
Summary: Overall, I am a fan of Jin's Meat Pie. I've yet to try their noodle soups which look quite nice too. It's quite a great dumpling feast! I wish they had dry noodles too and perhaps some more options with vegetables. My favourites are their signature, Grilled Meat Pies of course!
Location: If you can find parking in Eastwood, it's at Shop 7/1 Glen St, Eastwood. There's also a location at Burwood.
Price: For these three dishes, I paid under $50
