The World Burger Tour is back on at Hard Rock Cafe in Darling Harbour for a limited time. They bring the best burgers from Hard Rock Cafes in other countries and show case them on the Sydney Menu.
Matt eyes off the menu which has burgers ranging from USA, Italy, Spain, Argentina and India. The featured burger on the World Tour Burger menu at Sydney Hard Rock Cafe is the Tennessee BBQ Burger from Memphis, TN, USA ($19.95). We can't resist but order this burger.
The Tennessee BBQ burger has crispy onions, pickles, slaw, pulled pork, cheedar and a smokey BBQ sauce on certified angus beef. There's bold flavours and lots of crunchy texture from the crispy onion and slaw. It's quite a stacked burger with good height and just be aware that the burger arrives on it's own. If you want to order fries then that's additional.
The burger scene in Sydney is fierce and Matt enjoys the Tennessee BBQ Burger particularly the mix of crispy onion, sauce and slaw with the meat. It's a natural flavour combination. We agree that $20 for one of the World Tour Burgers could be improved by an addition of a side - small side salad or a few fries.
For something different, I order the Spinach and Chickpea Burger inspired from New Delhi, India ($19.95, above). This is a vegetarian option with a patty made of potato, spinach, chili peppers, chickpeas and spices. The burger is stopped with tomato, salad leaves, cucumber and a spiced yoghurt. This burger is more simple in flavour in comparison to the Tennessee BBQ Burger. The predominantly potato patty calls for a touch more spice or chilli but I'm sure vegetarians will appreciate the option.
I was also tempted by the "When in Rome" Burger inspired by Rome, Italy Hard Rock Cafe. The pancetta/garlic aioli combination with sun dried tomato sounds nice.
Price: $20 for a burger, $5ish for fries (depending on which fries you buy)
