Bluestone Restaurant and Bar, Darlinghurst

I recently checked out Blue Stone Restaurant and Bar in Darlinghurst for lunch. It's an Asian fusion restaurant with dumplings and Chinese/Malaysian influences on their menu.

It's a sunny afternoon where Matt and I catch up with a few other foodies at Blue Stone Restaurant for lunch. Upon entering the restaurant, you see a huge bar to the right and interesting art works on the wall.

As a group, we share all our dishes like a big banquet. There are great lunch specials for $12 which we share in addition to a series of dumplings. We start off with the Prawn dumplings. I've never seen Prawn Dumplings or Har Gow presented with the tail on before.  I dip the dumplings into a bit of chilli. I also get straight into these translucent prawn dumplings as well (below) and they are fried at the bottom which is something I haven't had before. At first it's quite unfamiliar but I really enjoy them in the end.

There are also Xiao Long Bao which has a slightly thicker skin then I prefer but still enjoyable to eat and the Shallot pancake (below). I quite like the shallot pancake, there's nothing like a bit of fried-like bread to bring a bit of crunch and texture to the meal.

The group of foodies devour the Chicken Dumpling (above) and I'm quite full although we are now moving into mains.

The portions are quite generous for the $12 price tag. The main lunch dishes also come with rice. We kick off with the Crispy Chicken skin chicken with garlic and chilli sauce.

There's also the Combination Fried Rice with chicken, prawn, beef and vegetables. This picture is deceiving as the portion is quite large and the plate is quite large.  The fried rice reminds me of a homely cooked meal with the egg and carrots, peas and corn.

There's also many other dishes that you can choose from for $12.

Summary: The locals love a reasonably lunch at Blue Stone Restaurant. They are also open for dinner and drinks if you can't get there at lunch time.
