Whenever we have a free day, Matt always wants to go to Vic's Meat Market. He is obsessed with this place because of their smokey tasty burgers. We head back to relive the magic recently.
It's a sunny day and we get the bus into Pyrmont to avoid the hectic car park. From Vic's Meat Market, you can see a bit of the water. We arrive at lunch time and I forget that the meat quickly sells out. I know he's had his heart set on some of the burnt ends and ribs but we miss out. Matt doesn't get his first preference but still manages to snag the smoked wagyu double cheese burger.
It's a small venue with a few tables and chairs so you may end up in the park next to the fish markets but the good news is that the food is quickly prepared and by the time you pay the bill, you'll more than likely would have received the food by then.
I can see Matt's eyes light up as he bites into the smoked wagyu double cheese burger, $17. I look at the big smoker that's delivered this burger and the smokey smell throughout the venue. The smoker has a name - Kong. The high quality wagyu meat with the cheese, tomato, mustard and pickles is the perfect combination. I watch Matt slowly and I can tell Matt is savouring each bite. I eat a small bite so that Matt can enjoy it all.
There's also the pulled pork ($12) which has smokey pulledpork pieces and has creamy and crunchy slaw served up on a soft bun. This burger has a bit more texture and has the smokey textures from the brisket.
Go early if you don't want to miss out on of the menu items.
