Surburban Yum Cha can be challenging to enjoy but I suppose if you don't live in the city then you may be tempted to just go to Emperor's Table North Ryde. I think it does well for an RSL in the burbs and you can always stop by the aviary to check out the random birds. Obviously the yum cha restaurants in the city kick butt and there is more variety at Rhodes but you have to judge each place based on what it is.
There isn't a lot of variety but the dumplings taste fresh. Seafood has to taste fresh or it's a horrible experience. The flavours are there and you can see the local chinese seem to go here for lunch as well as yum cha. Perhaps worth another go for the food aside from the yum cha.
