Stable Talk Cafe, Kensington

Matt and I head to Stable Talk Cafe in Kensington for a late brunch. As you enter, you'll immediately see lots of horse artifacts. There's a small area at the front of the cafe where you can sit down but they also have a narrow walkway and back area too.

The staff are friendly and Kevin - the front of house is buzzing away with all the take away and breakfast orders. Make sure you have a look at all the saddles in the walkway area, it's an art piece.  I look at the menu and there's a few breakfast and lunch options. The staff tell me about the specials. I immediately eye off a few menu items. 

Matt and I kick off our meal at Stable Talk with a chai latte ($4), I enjoy the creamy smooth flavours. While Matt goes for the chocolate milk shake ($6) which has a nice chocolate hit and it's nice and thick with a generous amount of ice cream.

Then there's the perfect dish in this colder weather which is the  hot roast beef roll with gravy and chips ($13). The bread is nice and crunchy, the roast beef is coated in a heavy gravy and it's served up with french fries. What more could you want? The beef is quite moreish and I can see Matt quickly devouring the roll. I quickly ask for a bite while I can.

I order the corn fritters with avocado, sweet chilli relish, haloumi, two poached eggs and your choice of salmon, chorizo or bacon ($17). I choose salmon. The eggs are perfectly poached which is nice and I enjoy the corn fritter that are mildly sweet from the corn and savoury from the batter, the creaminess of the avocado with the refreshing smoked salmon works well and the saltiness from the halloumi was a great touch to the balance of flavours. Delicious! This was also on the specials menu.

Stable Talk Cafe is also known for their burgers. Then there was the Kensington Straight up Burger ($18) which was heavenly. Matt describes this burger as insanely good. Check this out, this burger has 100% Wagyu beef, chorizo, tomato, beetroot, caramelised onion, lettuce and chili mayo. I switched out halloumi with barbers cheese based on a recommendation of the staff and boy was I happy with the result. This burger reminds me of a quality burger old skool burger, like a fancy Paul's Famous Hamburgers in Sylvania.  

There's also a choice of pancakes if you have a bit of a sweet tooth. This honeycomb pancake stack looked so delicious but unfortunately I was so full from the generous portions that I didn't get to dig into this one. I wanted to so badly though.

Summary: I really enjoyed my brunch at Stable Talk Cafe. The food is amazing, I enjoyed all the dishes in particular the corn fritters and the burger! I highly recommend. I'll have to come back and try the pancakes

I also enjoyed all the horse decorations across the cafe.
