WATCH OUT FOR THE PUMPKIN SEEDS IN THE GUAC. Very different. Flying Fajita Sistas has been around for several years serving up delicious mexican meals
After a few drinks in Newtown, I head to Flying Fajita Sisters with some friends and we notice how busy it is downstairs. We are seated upstairs on the balcony where there is a nice breeze.
To share we order the guac and chips (top photo, $14). The corn chips are made from blue corn and the usual corn and the dip is creamy guac topped with pumpkin seeds which is a bit different.
We also share a jug of their tropical sangria ($32) which is a special of the night which has tropical fruits, passionfruit pieces, strawberry and wine white. It's actually quite nice and easy to drink.
The Chorizo Fajitas ($25, above), arrive - make your own style - with small tortilla wraps where you can use the plate of chorizo, onion, beans, sour cream, rice and salsa. Everything is quite nice but the portion is a bit small compared to other Mexican Eateries for the price.
I order a small chicken nachos (below, $16) which is served in a hot bowl so be careful. The flavours are quite nice as I eat the corn chips with chicken topped with a generous serving of cheese, radished onion and jalapenos. It's very nice! One of the better nachos I've ever had.
I also order the Beef Enchiladas ($21, above) which comes with a side of rice, beans and is topped with cheese and radished onion. This dish is quickly devoured and is more of a generous dish compared to the fajitas.
Overall, I had a nice time at Flying Fajita Sistas. It's a great venue to share food with good company. Be sure to book ahead of time.
