Bamboo Field, Homebush

Bamboo Field has hexagon shaped bowls! How funky

Located in Sydney Olympic Park, you’ll find a number of delicious Asian dishes at reasonable prices here. After a recent revamp, a place which was long dismissed is now the first preference when escaping the office for a lunch break. I recommend you come just before 12pm if you’re in a hurry as some days they can get insanely busy.

Fortunately, Winter has Sydney this week. With cooler temperatures and moody skies it’s the perfect time to throw your face into a bowl of wontons, veggies, prawns and rice noodles covered in soup that feels like a warm hug from ya Mum. The soup was the star of this dish for me. It was a perfect. I ended the experience with tipping the bowl into my mouth and drinking for days...

I also come back and get some take away. I order the pad thai with beef ($10, below). It's not quite authentic thai but an enjoyable noodle dish. There's a serving of random vegetables in the pad thai which I like but it's not common in Pad Thai to see chunks of snow peas, zucchini or mushrooms.

I also order a char teow kway which is a classic Malaysian dish. Bamboo delivers are nice satay flat rice noodle dish but it's definitely not a char teow kway (below, $10).

Highlights: When ordering off the menu, everything is cooked fresh. All the noodles are actually quite tasty although none resemble anything authentic. I quite like the satay flat noodles. Delicious!

Improvements: They should just rename their dishes to generic noodle dishes so it's not misleading.
