The Choc Pot, Chatswood - Vivid Special

Vivid Sydney at Chatswood runs from 26 May – 17 June from 5.30pm – 10.30pm. There's also a great series of Vivid foodie specials to check out. Today I share with you some of the desserts!
So there's tonne of eating options during the Vivid Festival in Chatswood. There's the District at Chatswood Interchange, Hawker Lane and also the concourse for a front row seat of the film, light and art installation.

They Sydney Vivid Festival describes the Concourse "The façade of The Concourse hosts Future City/Smart Citywhich follows a flight of whimsical dirigibles to an airbourne, sustainable community; on returning to earth visitors peer into the reflective pool to discover the submerged magic of Steampunk Waterworld."

I see a few crowds in the Concourse on this cold night. I bet they are craving loaded hot chocolate and speciality cakes to warm them up. A little birdie gives me the low down on what to check out. There's the
  • Choc Pot (Chatswood Interchange): They have a special steam punk'd s'mores mocha ice cream sandwich which is made from a baked mocha mousse cake, vanilla bean ice cream, torched marshmallow, chocolate shaped nuts and bolt on a chocolate metal plate
  • Passion Tree (Chatswood Interchange): They have specially designed flavoured loaded hot chocolate (like a freak shake but hot chocolate style). They have four special vivid flavours to choose from including Peanut Butter Cuppa, White Rose, Campfire S’mores and Mint White Delight.
  • Star Bucks (The Concourse): They have a flourless belgian choc cake take away or you can sit in for a warm version of the dessert with cream or melting choc sauce.

So after spending some time at the big Chatswood Concourse where there are these massive screens and lights going off with a giant radioactive looking can "Steam Punk Waterworld" at the reflection pool (above). Matt and I decide to go to the choc pot at the district in Chatswood Interchange. As we've eaten too much at the Orchard Tavern, we decide to share one dessert.

I really like the tea selection at the choc pot and end up choosing a refreshing Japanese Green tea with lime tea. It's nice, warming and refreshing in one, perfect on a winter's day. Matt doesn't drink tea so he sips on water while we wait for our dessert.

We share the Vivid Special which is the Punk'd s'mores mocha ice cream sandwich which is made from a baked mocha mousse cake, vanilla bean ice cream, torched marshmallow, chocolate shaped nuts and bolt on a chocolate metal plate.  I'm very impressed at how real the chocolate nuts and bolts look.

The baked mocha mousse cake is dense like a brownie and rich in flavour so you really do rely on that vanilla bean ice cream to balance out the heaviness.  Matt happily eats the majority of this dessert while I pick at it, still trying to recover from how full I am.

The tea and dessert have hit the spot. I'm warm and satisfied so I feel like I can face the cold weather and enjoy more of the Vivid Festival!

Check it out.
