The Nolza, Sydney CBD Karoake and Food

Come on Barbie, let's go party. Who's ready for some Karoake fun with a side drinks and Korean/Japanese food? I check out The Nolza recently along with Matt and a few other singing friends. We got a room straight away thanks to Qtix - an app which allows you to digitally queue up.

FYI - Above the Bulgogi in the Sydney CBD on liverpool st, The Nolza is a new karaoke bar and if you dine at the Bulgogi then you get free karaoke for 30 minutes (for a limited amount of time). Woo Hoo!

I enter the room and notice the emergency details appear on the screen. We get straight away to ordering food on the little screen on the side. It's a touch screen which you can scroll through.

If you have a Korean background then you will have no problem navigating through the giant remote, otherwise you may need some assistance from the staff. There's a large array of songs whether it be Korean hits or English songs as well. You can search by title of song or artist. I pick up the microphone and start belting out some tunez!!!

I start off with the song I believe I can fly. My friends politely clap at my horrible singing. lol.

It's so much fun. The food starts to arrive including a skewer platter ($56) which includes 4 chicken skewers, 3 beef skewers, 3 pork skewers and also 2 prawn skewers. We also get an array of sides including french fries, prawn crackers and peach pieces along with 4 little tubs of kim chi, egg, chilli radish. The group debate on whether this is a for value platter or whether we are best ordering other dishes.

I sip on sole cola which is my secret source of sugary energy.

My suggested picks when ordering food are firstly the Pork Galbi Kim Chi Jeongol Hot Pot ($45) which can easily be shared in a large group of hungry singers. It has a spicy broth to really ignite your inner soul. We also debate whether how practical this is if people are drunk and trying to eat hot broth. For a very sober group - this would be great though.

I also highly recommend ordering the Korean Fried Chicken, in particular the Original Fried Chicken and the sticky sweet chilli fried chicken. They were so finger licking good and delicious ($approx 36). The Medium Sashimi ($42) with 15 pieces of salmon, tuna, scallop and kingfish was really tasty and highly recommended. The fish tastes really fresh and was a nice contrast to the Korean Fried Chicken.

Summary: The Nolza is a great venue for Karoake where you can order food until 2am. There's lots of Kpop in English and english songs. My picks for the food would be the fried chicken and the sashimi.

Enjoy! It's so much fun!
