Rosetta, Sydney CBD

Matt and I decide to have dinner before a stroll among the pretty lights  at Vivid.  I see that Rosetta has a Vivid Special so I book an early dinner for Matt and myself.

Rosetta has a very up-market and elegant decore. I notice a sign that states the restaurant is part of the Rock Pool Dining Group. We are seated at our table and have a choice of ordering from the a la cart menu or ordering the Vivid special. The usual Rosetta menu is quite simple but it's the value from the Vivid special that twists my arm.

The staff are attentive as we are the only table upstairs. The waiter is really nice and helpful with my choice of wine.

The Vivid special is a pasta chef's special and a tiramisu for $29. We order this special and order one of each of the specials. First there's a spaghetti with a tomato based sauce, onion, garlic, basil and olive oil. This dish is a very simple in flavour. The flavours come together well but would be low on value when price is considered.

The second pasta dish which is part of the Vivid special is this pork pacherri rigati, this dish is quite salty in flavour on my palette although Matt enjoys the dish. I stop eating this dish and focus on the other dish. Matt finishes off this dish. 

Most of the pasta dishes on the A la carte menu are approximately $30 so the Vivid Special was high on value given you also get a dessert.  Next up is dessert. We are served two small portions of the tiramisu. The small tiramisu is creamy with chards of chocolate with a coffee soaked sponge base at the bottom. Matt feels the portion is too small as he devours this within a few spoonfuls so I offer him my portion too. 

Summary: Overall, I have a pleasant dinner and thought the staff were very helpful. The food was of solid quality although the price tag seems high for what you get when compared to many other Italian eateries in Sydney. I also believe other Italian eateries would also easily rival based on flavours.
