Mapo, Newtown


 Mapo is an ice creamery located on King St Newtown. It’s New Years Eve and we’ve had 21,000 covid cases today. Mapo is my only outing today as I’ll be celebrating quietly at home. With the current pandemic, I’ve been able to get parking really easily in Newtown. 

Mapo is a tiny shop so basically only one customer can enter at a time. The ice cream flavours change frequently which makes for nice variety. On this occasion, I decide to get three flavours in a cup which costs $9.



The three flavours that I choose are the

- 04 - Nocciola aka Hazelnut

- 02 - Stracciatella aka milk dark choc chips

- 07 -Gianduja aka Like Nutella but better 

The gelato is delicious, silky and melts quickly. I start with the Gianduja which takes like heaven. Nutella gelato is seriously addictive. I highly recommend!

Now you would think that the Nocciola would be similar to the Gianduja but there is a distinction. The Nocciola has Hazelnut nuts on a chocolate gelato base whereas the Gianduja tastes like Nutella in gelato form. These two are my favourites.

The stracciatella was simple but makes for a lovely contrast compared to the other flavours.




Overall I enjoyed my experience at Mapo and would recommend.

    Nice post, I like it. I've been ordering Spanish food online in UK at TheSpanishChef, and have been impressed with the wide variety and quality of dishes available. From paella to tapas, the flavors are authentic. Highly recommend checking out the online options for a taste of Spain in the comfort of your own home.
