Pony Dining, The Rocks

Pony Dining celebrates its 10th Anniversary!!! What a great achievement. Make sure you check out Pony Dining in November for a whole host of special deals. If you also quote WFEpony when you book in Nov 2016, you will get a complimentary glass of champagne or wine.

Pony Dining is located in the very middle of the bustling strip of the rocks. Its menu is reflective of Modern Australian food with creative twists to tantalise the tastebuds.

The decore is very intimate and homely. There's a slender corridor of tables and there's also an outside area where you can people watch. It would make for a great venue for a group lunch or dinner.

I start with the half shell Hervey Bay Scallops with Ginger and Shallot Dressing. I love scallops when they retain their natural flavour and taste fresh. Pony Dining delivers this in style.

Then there was my favourite dish of the day which was the seared kangaroo with pepperberry dressing with raspberries and pickled currants. I love this dish because it's full of textures and flavours that really compliment the kangaroo. The crunchy peppercorns add a bit of spice and contrast well with the sweetness of the raspberries and currants. The Kangaroo is served up rare.

Others at the table really rave about the roasted heirloom beets with the Burrata cheese, olive crumb, hazelnut and crispy beets. The creaminess of the burrata cheese is hard to resist. I like the contrast of the roasted beets and the crispy beet chips as well.

I love meeting foodies that I follow or see online. Love your work folks!

The double baked gruyere souffle romesco with fire roasted hazelnuts and fig relish is a cheesey delight with the light fluffy textures you would expect. It's a dish that could easily fall over but this one easily delivers.

Next up is the Cone Bay Barramundi with clams, macadamia butter and samphire. The buttery sauce is perfect as the fish soaks in the flavours.

Then there were the dishes for the red meat eaters. First up is the Rangers Valley Flank Steak (250g) with chilli bean sauce and grilled enoki mushrooms.

Above are the Grilled carrots with harissa and fresh ricotta.

Dry aged rib eye on the bone (500g) spit roasted with bone marrow with lemon (120 days grain fed, 4 weeks dry aged). It's recommend to spread the marrow over the rib eye.

Summary: Make sure you book in November 2016 using WFE2016 for your free glass of wine or champagne. Pony Dining has so many great dishes to please the tastebuds. My fave is the kangaroo but it's hard to go pass any of the other dishes. This menu is def high quality.
