Moody Chef, St Leonards

WHY IS THE CHEF MOODY? HEHEHE The Moody Chef is located in Crow's Nest but has two other stores in St Leonards as well. I check out the original location on Atchison St.
My friend Dan swears this cafe has great breakfasts and we were eager to see how lunch fared at the Moody Chef. I ordered the char grilled chicken peri burger ($20.90, top photo) with peri-peri aioli, jalapenos, avocado, served with chunky chips to the side. I ordered well as the burgers seem to be a hit in comparison to the other dishes for lunch.

There was also the char grilled beef burger ($20.90, below) with crispy bacon, cheddar, tomato relish with the trimmings. The chips are nice and crispy.

The Moody Chef also sells their own products which I thought was pretty cool.

The decore is quite nice and relaxing.

The organic ginger beer ($6, above) is refreshing and easy to drink.

The risotto with slow cooked chicken in red wine and tomato with basil and parmesan ($20.00, above). The caesar salad with chicken, dressing, crispy bacon and poached egg ($20.90, below) had nice portions of bacon and chicken. My friend Dan requested more lettuce leaves as he felt the salad was lacking and the cafe happily obliged. Thanks guys!

The pesto penne with goat's cheese had garlic, herbs and ricotta ($18.90, below).

Highlights: My friend Dan who's a regular here stands by the breakfast and strongly insists that this is the highlight of Moody Chef. He believes the breakfast is ten fold better than the lunch menu. I'll have to come back to check out the breakfast. We all agree that from the lunch menu that the burgers were the best choices. The chips are nice and crispy.

Cons: The risotto and the pasta are very simple dishes. Great if that's what you are looking for but perhaps not the best picks on the menu if you are looking for an amazing cafe lunch. The Caesar salad didn't seem to have enough lettuce leaves but the kitchen will certainly provide more if you ask.
