Quite highly rated on Zomato but perhaps a bit generous @ Unoya in Balmain
Unoya is highly rated on urbanspoon at 93% so I thought I would check it out. It was clean, tasty and reasonably priced so I can see why it was highly rated. I think 93% is generous but it was a nice experience. I think the portions are a bit lighter than your average Japanese Restaurant but all the food is well executed.
I started with the pork gyoza (Below, $8). Thin skinned dumplings fried with a bit of crunch at the bottom, accompanied with a light soy. It was delicious. It's a nice change from the dumplings that you get from Korean owned Japanese restaurants where the Gyoza texture skin is quite thick.
The Salmon and Avocado Nigiri ($11) was fresh tasting but over sauced with mayonnaise. It was a bit rich for my liking and prefer to taste the natural flavours of the salmon. The Teriyaki Chicken ($14 below) was nice enough and was accompanied by salad and rice.
Prices: $30ish per head
