Lumi, Pyrmont

LUMI has an almost FLAWLESS rating on Zomato which I thought was impossible. 4.9/5 is really hard to achieve.
I came here on a Sunday lunch where the only option is the 8 course meal for $105. It was a lovely sunny day and the view was amazing.

I started with the snacks (there's multiple), firstly with a cucumber and caviar dish.  What a pretty dish. It's one per person.

My favourite snack was the crumbed mussel (top photo and above photo). There was also a cracker below.

The chawanmushi, a traditional Japanese dish was crossed with Italian tomato flavours. It's quite different. I prefer the original flavours but it's always nice to try something different.

The bread was amazing. The burnt butter and mascarpone spread was orgasmic with the warm bread. Easily my second favourite snack.

With my crab allergy, I had a substitute of sashimi for the first dish. The sashimi is fresh and delicate.

My non-allergic friend gets the sand crab with the green tomato sorrel. It's a nice start.

This beetroot dish was a nice surprise with black sesame and goat's cheese. It looked like a giant mushroom but was in a thick black sauce. This was so delicious! This was one of the highlights.

The agnolotti is best described as a tomato xiao long bao. Little parcels of pasta which encases a tomato broth which explodes in your mouth. Little parcels of delicate broth.

The tagliolini with balmain bug and lemon thyme was very delicious. It would have been perfect with a few more chunks of balmain bug and a few more herbs.

The lamb with red miso and carrot was very tender. It was very fatty and melt in your mouth.

Next is a palette cleanser/dessert with a strawberry icey-granita like dish.

The final dish is the frozen coconut snow with a rhubarb centre. This was amazing and very textured. Finally the watermelon with yuzu and sugar finished everything off.

Highlights: There are great views with highly attentive staff. The dishes are so beautifully presented and have a nice mix of creative, modern fusion as well as some really simple dishes, executed really well. I loved the crumbed mussel, beetroot dish and the dessert. I think the customer service was really exceptional.

Suggested Improvements: Nil. It's hard to fault my degustation experience without nit picking!
