Easy Lane has recently opened and word is spreading about this little gem in Windsor.
Easy Lane is a nice venue for a group of friends to have drinks, food and to chat away in a trendy atmosphere. It's deceiving on the outside as it's located within the Windsor RSL but you quietly escape into the outdoor and indoor setting of what feels like a clean, spacey version of a newtown beer garden.
Easy Lane also has a retractable roof so you can chill under the sunshine or the rain. Order your food at the register and let them know of your table number. You buy drinks separately by going up to the bar.

I order the fried chicken wings with blue cheese sauce and slaw (above, top photo, $24). It's a kilo of marinated sweet chilli chicken so it's slightly tangy and I couldn't resist the blue cheese sauce. It's a definite recommend and is very tasty. As it's a kilo, I suggest sharing this with a few others or you'll be too full to eat anything else. I demolished the fried chicken wings and felt extremely satisfied.
There's a drinks menu full of tasty cocktails and drinks. Prices are probably standard city prices, $20ish for a cocktail and $8ish beers. I sipped on a strawberry martini which was sweet and easy to drink.
The menu I've been told will be redesigned so it's more centred around steaks and ribs. At the moment though, there are burgers, sandwiches, pizzas and steaks. The trio sliders with chips (below, $26) included a pulled pork, braised beef (which was pure fat) and garlic and soy quail.
I ordered the special which was a 150 day aged score 2 scotch fillet with a side of chips and salad (above and below $30). I had the steak cooked medium so it was a bit pink in the middle. There is a generous side of salad and chips. It's definitely a man sized steak but was a delight to eat. The meat was very tender.
For dessert, I ordered the special which was mango gelato encased in white chocolate and a side of berries and biscotti (below, $12.50). It was a nice mix of textures and flavours. There was a random piece of chocolate inside the gelato so watch out for that. The gelato was nice and refreshing.
Overall, I would recommend the locals of Windsor check out this new eatery. It's got a lovely atmosphere perfect for a group catch up or a nice date. There are generous portions for those who can eat and for those who can't - I suggest you share. Try not to devour too many delicious cocktails as tempting as the menu looks.
Weekendfoodescapes dined as a guest of Easy Lane. All opinions, photos and words are my own.
