Everybody knows the ribs are amazing at Hurricanes but how do the burgers compare ?
Hurricanes is very popular in Top Ryde and known for their ribs. There are several tables inside quite a big venue and also more tables outside. Even with all the tables, there is often a big line outside of Hurricanes so you may have to wait.
On this occasion; they had a special pulled pork burger as a special and the waitress recommended the burger. I decided to order the pork burger and some ribs.
The Pulled Pork Burger (top picture, $28) was completely over rated. The pulled pork was stringy and dry. The sweet potato chips were nice. The coleslaw was lacking in dressing so I didn't eat much of the burger or the coleslaw to be honest. I was bitterly disappointed and thought $28 was way too much for such a mediocre burger.
Luckily I ordered the half rack of Pork Ribs ($38). What a lunch saver! As per usual, the well sauced pork ribs are melt in your mouth delicious. The chips were crunchy on the outside and nice and potato-soft on the inside. The ribs went down a treat with the beer.
Hurricanes was in the last financial year's Entertainment book so I got a lovely 25% discount. It's unfortunately not in the 2015/16 entertainment book but I'll still come back for the ribs. I will definitely skip the burger next time.
