84 Union St, Pyrmont

84 Union St is a pub in Pyrmont, not far from the star casino. I was invited as part of a Zomato meet up and checked out the pub menu.

My friend Dinny watches while I savour a glass of shiraz after a long week at work. What a great way to finish the working week with good company and food!!

The vibe at 84 Union St is casual but a bit more up-market than Pyrmont Bridge hotel in decore and clientele. The menu is a pub style type of food with Asian fusion.

I shared platters of food with my fellow reviewers and bloggers including arancini, the twice cooked pork belly, tacos and fried wonton dumplings. The highlight is definitely the pork belly.

On their regular menu, the pork belly is $26.90 with a side of chips. The pork was fatty and deeply marinated in a garlic, chilli, oyster and shao hsing rice sauce. Dinny also agrees and loves the pork belly. Delicious!! Winner.

There are also other pub favourites that I got to try including the pad thai with chicken (below, $18) or garlic prawns (completely smothered in garlic) with a side of garlic bread. The pad thai is a bit smaller in portion than I'm used to but it's beautifully presented with a capsicum flower.

The crispy salmon is $28.90 with a side salad, potatoes and prosciutto is above. For dessert there was the $14 blueberry cheesecake with a scoop of ice cream and strawberry. It's a really decent cheesecake with that creamy, sugary dense flavour that you expect on a biscuit base. 


Summary: The highlight is definitely the pork belly and the menu has the usual pub favourites. So if you are in the area and you're looking for a quick bite at a pub before a big night out then stop by 84 Union St in Pyrmont.
