Cucina Espresso, Concord


HELLO breakfast lovers. I am back at Cucina Espresso as they have a number of new menu items. I am here at 8:30am to avoid the crowds that come a bit later. Matt's tastebuds are excited as he really enjoyed our last visit.
Cucina Espresso is a cafe located on the main strip of Concord. They are best known for their creative breakfast dishes with an Italian twists. There's a queue of coffee lovers as I enter Cucina Espresso on this particular Saturday morning.


To start the day off, I go for my chai latte which is warm, creamy with vanilla tones while Matt goes for the Nutella hot chocolate. The Nutella Hot Chocolate has really nice hazelnut tones and tastes just like liquid Nutella in milk. It's a nice surprise and I'd recommend!





Rocco, the owner tells me that his next dish was a special but due to it's demand and popularity, they have not put this on the menu. This is the Deconstructed Truffle Porcini Omelette ($19) which has Truffle Porcini infused omelette, topped with char grilled potato and garnished with grana padano cheese and served with toasted bread. I think this is the most pretty looking omelette I've ever seen. The potato is sliced in thick pieces and are slightly crunchy on the outside. The truffle flavours are infused into the cheese and omelette which make for a delicious breakfast.



Next up, we order the Uovo Salsiccia ($23.50) which has eggs baked in extra virgin, olive oil, garlic, chilli, parsley. Italian sausage, bacon, potato, cavolo nero, parmesan and buffalo mozzarella. This dish is also served with toasted bread. Now this is a real brunch dish as it has fusion of eggs for breakfast and lovely Italian flavours to make it lunch-like. The Italian Sausage is flavoursome and there's lots of cheese to make it rich in flavour.





I also love the Breakfast Arancini ($16.90, limited portions available) which has porcini truffle infused potato rice arancini with soft poached egg and mixed mishrooms inside. Serveid with a truffle porcini sauce and you can add crispy bacon for $4. What a masterpiece, I love the look of the Arancini and to combine it with the poached egg and bacon is simply genius. Matt is a big fan.



We are also a bit cheeky and order some Ricotta Pancakes ($18.90). These hot cakes are firmly built so they don't go soggy with the ice cream. The vanilla gelato is delicious and refreshing to eat with the strawberries with the hotcakes. Matt reckons they are a cross breed between cakes and pancakes. Matt is super happy and demolishes this breakfast dish.


Summary: Overall, I really enjoyed my breakfast at Cucina Espresso. I love that they have really creative breakfast dishes with big and bold Italian flavours. My favourite dish was probably the breakfast Arancini!

  1. Cucina is a pretty reliable local!! They're pancakes are quite good. The breakfast arancini is a GREAT idea! I do find the service a little hit and miss at times and the wait for a takeaway coffee can be quite lengthy.
