Toco Fresh, Concord

Toco Fresh is located in the main strip of Concord. Matt and I head to Toco Fresh on this particular Sunday. Concord is full of choices for cafes so it's nice to try a different venues. It's a rainy day so unfortunately we head inside, while the season is Spring, I'm not sure if the weather realises this.

To start off the meal, Matt orders a The 5th smoothie ($9.50) which has banana, chia seeds, raw cocoa, dates, protein and nutmilk. This drink sounds very healthy so how does it taste? Matt is satisfied with the flavour so perhaps this is a good option for good health and tasty flavours.

I order my usual which is a Chai Latte ($4). I'm not a coffee drinker although I notice they have the Grounds of Alexandria coffee. My chai latte is always a nice pick me up in the morning with a hit of sweetness with the smooth flavours of vanilla chai.

To top off the morning and to build my vegetable/fruit intake, I also order a Green Fresh Juice ($9 for Large) which is made from apple, spinach, celery, mint, cucumber and kale. What a burst of freshness! After this burst of refreshment, I'm ready to take on the weekend.

I rarely order porridge but by recommendation, I decide to order the Toco Porridge ($15) which is served with seasonal fruit, almonds, pistacho, drizzled in honey. This dish was a pleasant surprise with a delicious winning combination of honey, oats and pistachio with the fruit - my belly was very happy.  It's also beautifully presented.

Matt has a sweet tooth so he orders the French Toast ($17) which is made with brioche served with strawberries, whipped cream, mixed berries, cinnamon and honey. French toast is a perfect dish if you want to cheat at breakfast time. Matt devours the soft brioche which is heavenly with the whipped cream and honey

To balance out the naughty french toast, I order the Protein Bowl ($19) which has grilled beetroot and quinoa fritter, pumpkin, kale, mushroom, fried egg, halloumi and smashed avo ($19 + $5 for marinated chicken). I was expecting something else in my head - I didn't think the protein bowl would be a beautiful stack! The mix of the halloumi, mushroom, pumpkin and beetroot/quinoa fritter is delicious and would be a vegetarian's dream dish. I also add the flavoursome marinated chicken for additional protein.

We've over ordered (again) which means we order another dish. The Hangover breakkie roll ($14) was tempting and has 2 fried eggs, bacon, hash brown, avo, lettuce, chipotle mayo. This is the ultimate breakfast roll. It has all my favourites, egg, bacon and hashbrown. Who can resist a hashbrown in a breakfast roll? Matt grabs this with both hands and bites into the roll. I'm impressed.

Summary: Overall, I really enjoyed my breakfast at Toco Fresh. I think all the food was of high quality and the prices are reasonable. There's a good balance of healthy dishes and your naughty favourites such as the french toast. The service was relatively quick and I enjoy the 90's music.
