South Coast Food and Wine Festival, Shoalhaven

Have you ever visited the Shoal haven region? It's a little region of the most delicious and fresh produce. For the first time, they are hosting the South Coast Food and Wine Festival on 14-15th September. All 60 stands will be from regional producers. This ensures the authenticity and character of the Shoalhaven region.
There's going to be a special VIP area (opens 12pm) where there will be a day-long grazing table and of course wine and beers. You can enter back and forth as you wish.

I had a special sneek peak of what is to come and I have to say I am incredibly impressed by the quality of food, producers and the passion from the Shoalhaven locals. The list of local producers, restaurants and wineries is amazing.

They include award winning Coolangatta Estate and Silo's Estate and also Rick Stein's Bannisters, local gourmet shop "Flavours of Shoalhaven" and Cupitt's local wine and beer. You can see a full list of the line up here

The spread of food that was created by Smithy and the Chef was absolutely stunning. It's a catering business run by head chef at Silo's Estate. The zucchini flowers were the BEST i've ever had in my life. The local cheese, house-made chutneys and sliced cured meats were foodgasmic.

The crew from Apellation Oysters were also incredibly knowledgeable, down to earth and really authentically charasmatic as they demonstrated some of the oyster masterclass that will be at the South Coast Food and Wine festival.

The oysters were so tasty, fresh and I could taste all the different flavoured tones as they described the different types of oysters including the unique Australian oysters inclyding the Wagonga Oyster, Shoalhaven Oyster and Merimbula Oyster. The creaminess of the Wagonga Oyster is enough to convert me into an Oyster lover. It's delicious.

I also get a sneak peek of a Phyco Seaweed talk by Dr Pia Winberg who has been all over the media as she is leading the way with a series of sustainable seaweed products. I notice there's seaweed pasta, chips (cleverly named Sea C's) and also Dukka called Phukka. The local South Coast is a clean region which produces fresh and nutritious seaweed. I recommend you have a chat to Pia if you get the chance.

SO check out the South Coast Food and Wine Festival on 14-15th September. There's so many great things to check out in the area as well. Make sure you check out my other blog posts.
